Case

Technigo's UX Design Students Worked with Ekvi

In our recent UX Design Bootcamp assignment, students delved into the world of user flows. A user flow is a chart, diagram or path showing a user's journey in an application to complete a task. UX students learnt to build user flows by tackling real-world challenges faced by Ekvi - the first app for tracking endometriosis symptoms and enabling holistic insights for the users.

What was it about?

This case study allowed the UX Design Bootcampers to apply their skills in practical problem-solving and interface optimisation. Let's dive into their journey with the case of Ekvi!  The assignment started with thoroughly analysing Ekvi's key objectives and pain points. Students then reviewed the current flow to grasp the nuances of medication tracking, focusing on the challenges users face, such as the ambiguity when tracking medications and the need for comprehensive medication management in the app.

Ekvi's Lead Designer, Natalié Schnelzer, describes this UX challenge:

"We empower women and providers with insights and seamless patient-doctor communication. Optimising the essential flow of tracking medication can really help us provide a better user experience for both doctors and patients."

Which skills the students get to practise?

✔️ Interaction Design
✔️ Funnel Optimization
✔️ Task Analysis and User Flows
✔️ Solving Edge Cases in UX Design
✔️ Pitching your idea to a client

After understanding the challenge, students got into the nitty-gritty details of flow optimisation. They iteratively crafted optimised user flows, ensuring a seamless medication tracking experience. In the final phase, students developed a compelling pitch articulating their proposed improvements and got feedback on their ideas and how medication tracking flows can be improved.

Outcome

✔️ Students have developed multiple solutions for improving their experience on mobile app.
✔️ Students applied previously gained knowledge in usability, heuristics and visual design principles.
✔️ Students have worked with an existing Ekvi design system to create a consistent look in the suggestions and practice working in Figma

At the end of the week, students pitched their solutions to the Ekvi team and got feedback on their ideas on how medication tracking flows can be improved.

How did the students like the project?

This week was the best so far, our team work was great and it was really fun to do a real case. I found the material about Interaction Design super useful when working with copy and functions in Ekvi, to make it feel like a considerate and thoughtful product.

“It was so much fun to work with Ekvi. I felt I really got a good practice of focusing on the user's needs and how to keep focused on the main pain points. Interesting to learn how very small changes can create a great impact on your design and for the user”

“Working with a real company was exciting, having to focus on the pain points was hard but I learned a lot by doing it”
