Anna used to work as a print designer and is now combining her skills in design with frontend development at the design studio Department. She's also the co-founder of Newbie Tech Exploration Lab which facilitate hands on creative tech-explorations for beginners.

Hi Anna, tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m a happy tech enthusiast with a love for cross country skiing and mother to a five year old with a love for superheroes. I’m also a former print art director and a newly baked front end developer.

What did you do before Technigo?

I was a magazine art director and book designer for 15 years.

What do you work with now?

I work as a designer/frontend developer at a digital product studio called Department in Stockholm.

“I’m also in the steering committee for the brand new Frontend developer program at Hyper Island and I’m co founder of Newbie Tech Exploration Lab where we facilitate hands on creative tech-explorations for beginners.”

What’s the best thing about learning these new skills?

I feel like I’ve become … maybe 10 years younger. Since I constantly have to - and want to - learn new things life feels more exciting! It’s challenging and super refreshing realising there are som many possibilities out there to do great and exciting digital stuff. And coming from print I just love to be able to make things spin, blink, tilt and move around with just a few lines of code.

What’s next on your agenda?

Besides having a baby in January and a Newbie Tech Machine learning-workshop in October, I’m all about learning more creative coding, looking more into p5.js and Processing and just generally becoming better and faster at javascript.
