Meet Sara Cederberg: Learning Web Development with AI

Name Sara Caderberg

Student at Web Development with AI

Works at AQC HIT

Sara Cederberg is currently part of our guided Web Development with AI track, where self-paced learning is combined with weekly coaching and follow-ups in a small group setting. We caught up with her to talk about her motivations for joining the programme and what she hopes to get out of it.

What made you decide to study web development with AI?

"Having worked as a tech product owner for a long time and being between assignments, I wanted to take the opportunity to learn something new. I have tried to learn more coding through online courses, but I liked the self-paced format with regular check-ins for more structure. I chose web development because it lets me prototype my new ideas."

What did you do before?

"I work as a tech consultant, primarily as a project leader or product owner."

What is your expectation from the course?

"Initially, I was hoping to learn enough to make this a possibility to pivot my career. I still think it is a skill I can leverage in a few years, when I’m no longer responsible for my teenagers. I think this gives me more opportunities for remote and freelance gigs. What I have gained now, a few weeks into the course, is a better understanding of what people on my teams do, which makes me a better sounding board."

"I strongly believe we still need people who understand architecture and how to build from scratch in order to leverage the speed of AI correctly".

What goals do you have after you finish the course?

"A goal I set for myself is to replicate the website I used for my work portfolio on Squarespace."

What is the most valuable thing you learned during the programme?

"Still early days in the program for me, so it’s too early to have an insight. However, I’m glad I went through the theory and started my 1st project before using AI. I’m still cautious about using AI, as I want to understand the fundamentals first. One insight I had, though, is that sometimes the road isn't straightforward, and it’s okay to do something adjacent to get your flow back."

What advice would you give to others who are considering a career change into web development? Or just learning to code?

"Just do it! I think it’s still super relevant for people to be able to code, even though we see a shift toward vibe coding and no-code solutions. I strongly believe we still need people who understand architecture and how to build from scratch in order to leverage the speed of AI correctly."
