Story
Linnéa has been part of developing our online courses in cybersecurity. She works as a cybersecurity consultant at the tech company Omegapoint, specialising in secure digitalisation. Her experience spans everything from software development to building systems that handle sensitive information. What drives her is making security feel like a natural part of the development process — something practical, collaborative, and integrated into the way teams actually work.
So what does that look like in practice, and why does it matter right now?
Linnéa’s role in cybersecurity is broad, and that’s part of what makes it interesting. She works closely with development teams, supporting them in integrating security into their everyday work.
“I work as a cybersecurity consultant and have had the opportunity to work with many different parts of security within the development process. It can involve supporting development teams in how they can integrate security in a natural way through methods and tools such as threat modelling, security scanning, code reviews, and penetration testing. I have also led organisations that develop systems for sensitive information, and in several teams I’ve worked as a security champion, where I’ve been responsible for ensuring that work is carried out securely and that secure code is implemented in practice.”
Her work includes everything from threat modelling and security scanning to code reviews and penetration testing. In some teams, she’s also taken on the role of security champion — helping make sure security is part of the process from the start.
One of the things Linnéa finds most interesting about cybersecurity is how quickly it changes. There’s always more to learn, and new challenges keep emerging.
“The most fascinating part is how broad the field is and how quickly it changes. You’re never really done learning. New threats, vulnerabilities, and techniques are constantly emerging as digitalisation increases, which means you always need to be ready for change and new knowledge. It’s also very rewarding to work with something that makes a difference and helps make systems and people safer.”
As digitalisation continues to grow, so does the need to stay curious and adaptable. For Linnéa, it’s also about working with something that has a real impact — helping make systems and people safer.
When people hear that Linnéa works in cybersecurity, one question comes up more often than others.
“The most common question is whether I use different passwords for all my platforms. The answer is of course yes. My best tip is to get a password manager — it simplifies things a lot and makes it much easier to stay secure.”
It’s a simple habit, but one that can make a big difference in everyday security.
Cybersecurity is a wide field, and there are many different ways into it. It can feel like a lot at first — and that’s completely normal.
“Cybersecurity is a very broad field, so don’t worry if you feel overwhelmed at the beginning. That’s completely natural. Explore different parts of the field at your own pace, and you’ll find what you’re most interested in. There are many roles, specialisations, and paths to choose from, and the most important thing is to dare to start and give yourself space to grow.”

Taking the time to explore different areas makes it easier to find what feels interesting and right for you.
Cybersecurity has always been important, but right now it’s becoming even more relevant. Rapid digitalisation and developments in AI are changing the landscape.
“With increasing digitalisation and the rapid development of AI, cybersecurity is more important than ever. Criminals are gaining access to new tools and an entirely new playing field, and we need to be prepared to protect ourselves. It’s easy to make mistakes if you’re not thinking about which security aspects matter. In today’s uncertain global situation, it becomes even more important that we work together to create a safer and more secure digital environment.”
As the digital world becomes more complex, awareness and collaboration around security become increasingly important.
